Launch of Early Childhood Development (ECD) Call Centre In Assam to Support Cognitive, Physical and Emotional Development of Children Below 2 Years of Age

To ensure that every child in Assam achieves their fullest potential, the National Health Mission, Government of Assam in partnership with Piramal Swasthya launched first–of-its-kind - “Early Childhood Development (ECD) Call Centre” in January at Guwahati. The centre was inaugurated by  Dr. Lakshmanan S., Mission Director NHM, in the presence of Dr. Achyut Baishya, ED NHM, Mr. Hardeep Singh Bambrah, General Manager, Piramal Swasthya, other officials from GoA and Piramal Swasthya.

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is ensuring right to good health, nutrition, and access to stimulating, loving and protective care for children in a nature-friendly environment. Through this ECD Call Centre,  9 outbound calls would be made to pregnant women. Parents of children between 0-1 years of age and 1-2 years of age will also receive 9 and 3 outbound calls, respectively. ECD Call Centre which is manned by trained Doctors and Counsellors, would focus on the first 1000 days of the child that consists of 270 days during pregnancy and  first 730 days or first 2 years, after birth. The expected outcomes through this ECD Call Center would be improved knowledge of mother and parents on early childhood development and improved cognitive, physical and emotional development of the child.
