Celebration of International Women’s day : Empowering Safety: Karuna Fellowship’s Self-Défense Initiative

In line with the United Nations' focus on preventing violence against women, Karuna Fellowship recently conducted a six-day basic self-defense course for fellows across DBC Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, and Telangana. Beyond physical protection, self-defense training offers various benefits in daily life. By equipping fellows with these skills, the initiative aims to instill confidence and ensure safety, benefiting both themselves and others. Ramen Boro, a Black Belt in Chinese Shaolin Kung-Fu and the self-defense trainer from Assam, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to teach the fellows. He emphasized that the techniques learned will help them defend themselves in hostile situations and boost their confidence. With 95 fellows initially involved, the initiative taps into local expert resources, enabling fellows to lead sessions at their respective locations and fostering a community of safety and empowerment.
