Honouring the Traditional Healers of Raipur, Chhattisgarh

Acknowledging the contribution of traditional healers, a felicitation event was hosted at the state's Agriculture Marketing (Mandi) Board in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on March 13, 2024. Certified under voluntary certification schemes for traditional community health practitioners, these skilled healers were celebrated for their expertise and dedication to serving their communities. Shri Ramvichar Netam, Minister of Tribal Affairs, Agriculture Development And Farmer Welfare, Government of Chhattisgarh graced the occasion, extending his appreciation to Anamaya THC for their efforts in certifying traditional healers. Furthermore, he urged healers to refer patients with complex ailments to primary healthcare centres for further treatment, ensuring comprehensive care and patient well-being. The event not only honoured the rich heritage of traditional healing but also highlighted the significance of integrating traditional knowledge with contemporary healthcare practices in the pursuit of holistic health solutions.

Detailing the system-strengthening approach of #ProjectSampoorna, a consortium-led program in collaboration with the Department of School Education and Literacy, Jharkhand, she threw light how the initiative aims to integrate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into public schools, resulting in the introduction of the #Harsh Johar Curriculum tailored to the socio-cultural context of Jharkhand. Highlighting the importance of Whole Child Development, Monal emphasized shifting the focus from narrow learning outcomes to building student capabilities and agency which empowers students to address inequities in their classrooms and communities effectively.
