In April 2016, the Andhra Pradesh Government launched Chandranna Sanchara Chikitsa (CSC), which stands for “Healthcare on Wheels”, for providing medical services with the help of Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) to villages which have very limited access to healthcare services. Every month, 292 mobile medical units (MMUs) provide health care to about 2.37 crore beneficiaries in 13,523 villages across the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh. Diabetes, hypertension, epilepsy, communicable diseases, check-ups and other common ailments are investigated and treated. Within a year of its implementation, the program ranked high on service quality by the beneficiaries. 94% beneficiaries continue to avail the services. In the two years of the launch, the MMUs have served 1 crore beneficiaries, an achievement that has gained national and international recognition.
