A New Year A New Wave of Champions For Change

Piramal Foundation
August 05, 2019

Doing good is inherent in everyone. However, how does one go about it? How do I manage time along with my job? How can I create a difference in society? Questions such as these crop up in our minds quite often.

Employee Social Impact (ESI), a part of Piramal Foundation, provides the answers and of course, helps you do good. ESI is a platform for Piramal Employees, which provides meaningful volunteering opportunity by bringing NGO partners and beneficiaries closer to you.

‘’I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across waters to create many ripples’’. – Mother Teresa

Each Piramal office and plant has a lead volunteer - The Champion for Change (CFC). She is the one point of contact for all volunteering activities. The key responsibility of a CFC is to manage the coordination and execution of all volunteering activities in the office. The Champion for Change practices the values of Knowledge, Action, Care and Impact by assessing community needs and NGO needs before beginning any activity.

All Champions For Change go through a selective process and then participate in a one-year learning journey called Finding Flint. This unique learning journey program identifies potential leaders who are willing to contribute towards social causes, lead their locations/teams, inspire fellow colleagues to experience volunteering, help build a socially conscious culture within the group and in turn take a step towards creating positive change.

All Champions For Change come together to form a national cohort and the Finding Flint program equips them to conduct ESI activities efficiently and effectively.

We started the Finding Flint learning journey program three years back and in May 2019 inducted the third batch of Champions for Change from across the group. For FY 2019-20 there are 24 CFCs in total- representing every Piramal location and business.

The Discovery Workshop for the new cohort was conducted on 14th & 15th May 2019 where batch two CFCs handed over the baton to the new batch. Mr Vikram Bector, CHRO, Piramal Group and Mr Paresh Parasnis, CEO Piramal Foundation graced the occasion with their presence and congratulated all CFCs for setting examples within the organization to lead social impact at scale and in the process involve many others. The agenda of the two-day discovery workshop was to facilitate peer learning, build unique skills, network with fellow CFCs, and deep dive into the program.
