Menstrual Hygiene and Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Program, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan

Piramal Foundation
September 20, 2018

The stage between 10 and 14 years of age is a critical phase in the lives of adolescents, where they need the most amount of counseling and guidance. Many schools in rural areas do not have the capacity or knowledge to deal with issues related to adolescents. Some of the problems observed in schools are – bullying, verbal and sexual abuse, etc.

Gandhi Fellows implemented solutions in two phases during the community immersion. In Phase 1 they conducted staff meetings to establish the importance of the problems faced by adolescents, create empathy among teachers and mentor students. In phase 2, the Fellows conducted an awareness program on menstrual hygiene and child sexual abuse in two schools with 115 students and 5 teachers.
