Piramal Foundation For Education Leadership Partnered With Assam Govt To Improve Education Indicators In 5 Districts

Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership signed an MoU with the Assam Government to improve education indicators identified by the NITI Aayog across 5 aspirational districts in the state, for a period of four years. Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership will support the state government and district administrations in leadership and professional development of individuals through multiple channels of intervention, according to the MoU.

On 15th June 2019, Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership signed an MoU with Assam Government to bring change in education in 5 districts - Baksa, Barpeta, Darrang, Dhubri and Goalpara.

The MoU was signed by Shri Preetom Saikia, Commissioner and Secretary Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Assam and Mr Manmohan Singh, Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership. 

Senior State Officials namely, Shri Maninder Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Professor Mihir Kanti Chaudhari, Ex VC Tezpur University and Education Advisor, Smt. Purabi Gogoi, Deputy Secretary Department of Elementary Education and Mr Shamsher Singh, Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SMSA), Assam were also present.

Manmohan Singh, Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership, highlighted the importance of continuous professional development of education change leaders and emphasized the importance of working with middle managers, to enable them to develop the pedagogical capacity of teachers for more effective classroom delivery. 

“We aim to build the leadership capacity of the education functionaries in the district and strengthen the existing government system to perform effectively without any external support over the 4-year period of the MoU” he stated.
