I was only a graduate and I had a goal in life that I wanted to become financially independent so that I could support my family. I came to know about Piramal Foundation’s Karuna Fellowship from one of my friends. I didn’t like to work under someone and used to felt pressurized. I wanted to do something new and be self-independent. I got to know about Entrepreneurship Workshop organized by Piramal Foundation and I was determined to grab this opportunity. I attended the workshop at Baggar, Rajasthan. This five-day workshop was very much inspiring and meaningful. I came to know about how to develop business plan and peruse it. How to execute your idea I learnt from the UDYMITA workshop. And then I was so inspired that I really wanted to start something new in my life. When I returned from the workshop my father was impacted by paralysis and his right part of the body was not working properly. This was very much disturbing and emotional for me. My father is my support system. I was also struggling financially as I had no savings to initiate by start-up business. The society also had a view on this as there are pros and cons in everything. Some were in favour that I can do this just like my father is a businessman. Some people were of the thought that how a woman can become an entrepreneur, I should be doing job only and leave my business idea. However, my parents always supported that whatever you want job or business we are always there with you, if you need any help we are there.
I am feeling very happy that my daughter is starting her own business and is doing better than me.
inally, it’s been four months of my start up and I have created my customer base. I have employed one person for the job. I hope that I can make more people aware. As I from the first batch of Karuna Fellowship I want to inspire the next batch women of Karuna Fellowship and hopefully I can also generate employment for them to make them financially strong. I want to hold that stature that I should be able to support more women and they should not face any barriers on their way. If you want to achieve something in life, don’t think about any other person, think about yourself and take stand for yourself.
