Meet Dipali Patil, a Batch 15 Gandhi Fellow. She identified the issue of improper sanitary disposal in Sidhapur Ward, Bengaluru and saw an opportunity to address it.
Inspired by the Red Dot Campaign in Pune, she came up with her own campaign #DotItRight which seeks to raise awareness about the importance of sanitary disposal. Over 45 days, she engaged 800 people from the local communities of Hombe Gowda Nagar and Begur. Her campaign improves both waste management and healthcare practices by encouraging people to dispose the sanitary napkins by wrapping it in a proper cover, marking it with a red dot, disposing of it in a dustbin and washing hands after disposal.
