What began as classroom conversations around sustainability in Nuh, Haryana has now evolved into a nationally and globally recognized movement. Sixty schools have been driving real-world action—building compost pits, nurturing kitchen gardens, and hosting environmental fests in partnership with Panchayats.
In a major milestone, 15 pilot schools have earned the prestigious Green Flag Certification, making Nuh the first aspirational district in India to receive this recognition under the global Eco-Schools program. The effort has received appreciation from Mr. Ashish (City Magistrate, Nuh) and Kusum Malik ji (District FLN Coordinator), with continued support from Tata Communications and Pitchandikulam Forest.
The initiative has now been featured in the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) Global Newsletter—spotlighting how local leadership, student agency, and community partnerships are aligning with international green standards.
To honor the educators leading this shift, Eco Club In-charges have been formally certified as Eco Educators, in collaboration with Pitchandikulam Forest Foundation. This momentum is powered by deep partnerships—with Tata Communications, CEE, and district administration playing a pivotal role.
From classroom awareness to Panchayat-led green governance, the journey is underway. And it's just the beginning of deepening India’s green footprint—one school, one community at a time.
