His eyes said everything

At around 9:30 pm on the 1st of February, 2023, a senior doctor of the Integrated “SARATHI 104” Call Centre, Dr. M.H. Hazarika, received a distress call on his personal number from an elderly bed-ridden wife of his colleague and co-worker Dr. Pramod Chandra Medhi. Suddenly complaining of uneasiness while breathing, he suddenly collapsed on his bed and was unable to move. They had a care-taker named Piku, who lived with the elderly couple and took care of their daily needs. I immediately contacted Dr. Medhi and asked his care-taker Piku to bring him to the nearest hospital, Nemcare, Guwahati. He was immediately shifted to ICU. After 5 days of extreme hardship and near death experience he wrapped his hand tightly around mine and said nothing, but his eyes expressed every emotion. There are very few things in life more satisfying than being able to help someone, you have known and worked with for years. I personally feel that this is a rare honor bestowed upon me by the Almighty that I could extend my support to Dr. Pramod Chandra Medhi during his hour of crisis, and I feel privileged to be sharing this recent life event with you.
