India's tea garden communities face a high burden of maternal, newborn, and child morbidity and mortality. To implement and scale high-impact interventions to improve MNCH outcomes, we aim for a Bharat where everyone has access to quality healthcare. Project Saksham—a collaboration among USAID, PATH, Piramal Swasthya, Jhpiego, and Deloitte India—aims to improve tea garden hospitals. These hospitals are crucial to health care delivery in these communities and therefore to empower Hospital Management Committees in analysing and improving their performance, Project Saksham works with participating districts to develop a self-assessment mechanism. The Performance Assessment Tool and Facility Assessment Tool facilitate supportive supervision, capacity-building initiatives, and infrastructure upgrades to ensure high standards of care. Till date, 66 tea garden hospitals across four districts have successfully used these tools.
